My interest in therapeutic touch originated during childhood, when I would massage my Mum’s low back injuries, my Dad’s arthritic hands and my Papa’s leg post amputation. Massage Therapy was a natural progression to further develop the instinctive skills I used to care for my family. I’ve had additional training in pelvic assessment and treatment, whiplash associated disorders, cupping and nerve mobilization. My other areas of clinical interest are treating acute and overuse injuries, management of chronic illness, abdominal massage, TMJ, pregnancy and postnatal treatment. I’m also fascinated by the relationship between mental health, the body and the brain’s role in chronic pain and trauma. I strive to empower clients with open discussion about concerns such as areas to be treated and levels of undress to ensure a safe an effective massage therapy experience.
I teach at Algonquin College in the Massage Lab, and value the opportunity to frequently review the skills and knowledge I learned during my education, further develop my communication skills and share in the passion of the profession with new, burgeoning massage therapy students.
I strive to provide client centered care to each and everyone of my clients. I’m conscientious about verbal and non verbal communication and am comfortable with chatty and quiet clients alike. When not treating, I’m often found curled up with a good book and my cats, cooking, playing board games with friends, or attending music and art events. I strive to stay active through biking, swimming, cross country skiing, and hiking.
